(Please see my latest update…)
Massage first came into my life in 1997 or so. At that time, other than my child, my love was climbing. I had spent many days, nights and weekends scaling with a dear dear friend. He suggested to me that I pursue this “massage” path. So, being the single mother that I was, I took whatever money I could scrape up and headed into a wonderful Massage Practice owned my one Abby Cicirelli, LMP, where I received the most amazing massage by a man named Michael. From that day I was hooked. I found peace, tranquility, grounding and freedom. I wanted to share this with everyone that came into my life and so I began.
Massage schools are of plenty in Washington State, but still I took a leap of faith and headed to Portland Oregon where I enrolled in a program at East West Massage School. Then after completing 800 hours, I headed straight back to Washington and enrolled in Brenneke School of Massage (now Cortiva School of Massage) in downtown Seattle, where I completed another 600 hours and a 30 hour/wk volunteer massage internship. From this point I dove into Aromatherapy and Reflexology and then enrolled in Ashmead School Of Massage (now Everest College) and completed a 1200 hour program. Here is where I found Breema. Breema, is a beautiful art and my training is ongoing.
After Graduating, I stumbled upon an Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy Website. I contacted the one and only Jeni Spring, LMP who was a local that I met with to discuss this interesting treatment. After several mishaps, Jeni and I finally met and to this day she is one of my dearest and my most favorite Massage Therapist’s. At this point Jeni and I became roommates at Edmonds Massage Center, where out of all craziness I ended up working with a far removed cousin, Kelly Kozelisky, LMP and Owner. Here at Edmonds Massage Center I worked with a plethora of Therapists ranging in many modalities. And here is where Jeni began to show me more and more about Ashiatsu and my love grew for it.
After spending several years at Edmonds Massage Center, my lovely fiance at the time found out that he may be moving to Deutschland. So we were married and the three of us moved here to Wiesbaden Germany. Of course the First year here was rough, not many clients and who do I want to work with ? The US Government or the local German Economy. I dabbled a bit here and there and offered massage to friends and my husbands co-workers. Our First Christmas in Germany I actually went back to Washington State and enrolled in an Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy course with Dari Hafi, LMP. I graciously completed the program and brought those skills back here to Germany. It has been rough being able to practice this barefoot modality, but slowly and surely it is coming and will eventually be available. I have every intention on sharing this Deep yet Luxurious technique with all of you.
Now, You will find me as one of the two Massage Therapists at USAG Wiesbaden Sports and Fitness Center, in Hessen Germany. I have been here since May of 2006 and will continue sharing my love for Massage with all of the soldiers, spouses, civilians and contractors that make their way here.
This is me, Dawn R Dotson, LMP. I love to spend time with my Rock-Star hubby, my son, and my two very large cats. I still enjoy rock climbing and I am a volunteer Instructor at USAG Wiesbaden Outdoor Rec. I love to travel, cook , B&W photography, a great thick foamy cappuccino, clean crisp fall air, camping, backpacking…etc etc. Just being outdoors in general.
